Ludhiana: More than five trains arrived late at the Ludhiana railway station on Tuesday, following protests from members who besieged NRMU train tracks. The agitated crowd, which demanded the arrest of Urmu workers who allegedly attacked five members NRMU last Saturday in Ferozepur railway station, assaulted Amrapali Express for an hour.
This put passengers at stations affected in a complete state of confusion because many of them chose alternative trains to their destinations. But, time delays were inevitable. "The train departs from Delhi at 15:00, but it looks like we will be on time," said Davinder Singh Amritsar traveling in the Amrapali Express. The train, which was scheduled to reach Ludhiana at 9am reached around 9:50 a.m..
The Jammu Tawi train was delayed by two hours and stopped at Dandari Kalan. Paschim Express and Malwa Express were delayed by an hour and Himgiri was delayed for five hours.
Shatabdi was late by five minutes. Reservation counters remained closed 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m..
Ludhiana station superintendent RK Sharma said: "We apologize for the delay, but things are in order now. We take care in the future so that these delays do not occur."
"Our train was delayed for an hour.'ve Been waiting at the station for a long time, and now the protest has been extended by two hours. Had to reach Ambala with urgency," said Singh Sukhdayal Pakhowal road.
"Jammu Tawi has been delayed by two hours. We have no choice but to wait," Paras, another resident.
