SONIPAT: In the case relating to acid attack
on a minor girl who had died, a district court in Sonipat sentenced the
primary accused to life imprisonment on Friday, and imposed a fine of
Rs 11,000 on him.
The accused, identified as Sanjay Kumar, a resident of Shastri Colony in Sonipat, and two others who are minors had thrown acid on Kiran Devi, 17, on July 13 when she was standing outside her house in Delhi Camp Colony in Sonipat.
Additional district and sessions judge Pramod Goyal convicted the main accused and sentenced him to life imprisonment.
According to information, Sanjay, 25, stalked the girl for some time and finally proposed to her, but the girl had declined his proposal and cautioned him not to follow her. Provoked by the rejection, the accused threw acid on her which led to critical burn injuries. A case of murder had been registered against the accused and his accomplices.
