Cosmetic make summer allergens


Ludhiana: With summer setting, there has been an increase in cases of skin cosmetic allergies. Although cosmetics can cause skin allergies at any time, but the problem is intensified in the summer, when the cosmetics applied to the face and other body parts come into contact with sweat, causing allergies.

According to experts, in the early summer, the sweat is mixed with chemicals present in cosmetic products in the sunlight, leading to allergic reactions such as redness, itching, hives and, in some cases, discoloration and scars on exposed parts of the body, especially the face.

Dr Jastinder K Gill, SPS Apollo Hospital dermatologist said, "I get twice the number of patients with allergies to cosmetics these days compared to day routine. Certain chemicals in cosmetics immediately react with sweat in the hot weather. In case of an allergic reaction, you should immediately wash the area where the cosmetic was applied.

Experts also advise washing the area where cosmetics are applied at bedtime so that the pores do not get stuck.

Dr Alka Dogra, head of the department of dermatology at the Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) said: "It is important to clean cosmetics applied to the skin, especially at bedtime.
