LUDHIANA: An initiative of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) of seeking evidence of assessment has pleased the students of classes IX and X, who are usually concerned and dissatisfied with their internal assessment.
While the new guidelines have relieved some students who bother if their assessment went appropriate, there are some others who are worried the moderators would be stricter now while checking their assignments and projects.
CBSE has asked schools to submit evidence of summative and formative assessment, which would include proper evidence of the projects, files and assignments done by students; and would be thoroughly examined by the moderators.
Class X student Nishant Narula said any decision has both negative and positive aspects and even the submission of evidence of assessment will be troublesome for some students. "Personally, I am in favour of this decision of the board," he said.
There may be a difference in opinions among students, but the principals are in favour of this decision of CBSE. KVM School principal Navita Puri said, "Demanding the evidence of assessment is a good initiative by the board and will be implemented from current academic year. Since the summative and formative assessments will be new concepts for the teachers, the guidance of moderators will definitely help them."
