Fatehgarh Sahib (Punjab): Boxer Ram Singh, who was detained in drug network of several million dollars, said that he and bronze medalist boxer Vijender Singh Olympics had tried drugs, but for the sake of "adventure".
He also admitted that he and Vijender Singh were in constant contact with Anoop Singh Kahlon drug dealer, who was arrested on March 7, police said.
"We had taken very small amount of drugs, less than two gm. But we are not regular drug makers and had tried only adventure. Did not intend to enhance our resistance or take performance," said Ram Singh IANS by phone.
The police had recovered 26 kg of heroin, worth Rs 130 crore in the international market, possession of Kahlon and arrested him on Thursday. According to reports, the police had said that Vijender Singh and Ram Singh were his "clients".
"Vijender was in contact with some famous Mumbai, which was common at raves and took drugs. Therefore also tested., However, do not pay anything to Kahlon of drugs," said Ram Singh.
As Ram Singh has confessed to the Punjab police on drug use, officials from the National Institute of Sports (NIS), Patiala, have expelled from their hostel.
A three-member committee of coaches also searched his hostel room, but found nothing objectionable.
Ram Singh and Vijender Singh are very good friends and were roommates at NIS for almost six years. Supposedly Vijender Singh Ram Singh was promoted on various platforms using their influence.
Police said Vijender Singh could summon for questioning on Wednesday.
"I have nothing to do with drugs.'m Ready to join the research at any point of time and I'm also willing to submit to any drug test," said Vijender.
