TRAIN RECRUITS WOMEN FIGHTING CRIME

Amritsar April 22:
Amritsar Police is all set for a makeover, and 48 women recruits are currently undergoing training in handling weapons, driving and self-defense to take criminals and Eve teasers in the holy city.
During his training undertaken under a special program that has been going on for nearly seven months, these young constable recruits are taught to ride on two wheels, handle a gun, and how to pursue and arrest a criminal. They are also familiar with the laws relating to crime against women.
However, these students say that training has taught them much more: discipline and honesty are essential to do justice to their jobs. These girls are taught how to handle a 9mm pistol, and surely these students have become accustomed to handling weapons. "At first, I was scared after holding a gun, but thanks to our training I am quite sure about the handling and use of firearms are concerned," said an apprentice Kamaldeep Kaur.
For each of these recruits, the reason for joining the police force is different. For some, it was a childhood dream, for others, a way to earn respect in society. But what is common to all is the illusion that men could match all the requirements for demanding work. "We want to show the world that there is no difference in the ability of men and women. Both have the ability to do justice to this work. Hopefully other girls also inspired us to be brave," said Kuldeep Kaur.
The training has certainly rubbed their magic on these recruits, they exude a sense of confidence and courage. As soon how are you young people put their uniforms, unexplainable sense of pride takes over, being ready to take on any challenge and overcome. "If we are in civilian clothes, sometimes we feel shy. But once we get the uniform, make us strong mentally and gives us the confidence that we have the power to fight anybody," said another participant Meenakshi, who is hails from Pathankot.
