SAD ridicules CONGRESS ON WEALTH TAX

The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) has ridiculed the "contradictory statements" of Congress on the proposed imposition of wealth tax on agricultural land within 8 km of the outer limits of the municipal bodies.
On the one hand Partap Singh Bajwa PCC chief said that (the proposed tax) is only a draft proposal and, on the other hand, former Prime Minister Amarinder Singh is demanding its withdrawal, said a spokesman for the SAD. In a statement released by the party, SAD secretary and spokesman Daljit Singh Cheema said first Congress should gracefully accept his mistake.
The decision to impose tax on capital debt ridden peasantry amounts to the signing of the 'death sentence' of farmers in the country, the statement added, people are surprised to see the different positions taken by the two leaders high-level conference on a very sensitive issue on the future of farmers.
