Ludhiana based A man has been arrested for allegedly selling her newborn grandson of a businessman from Delhi to Rs 8 lakh after her daughter lying the child was stillborn.
Police said Firoz had struck the deal on Facebook with the help of a friend, an assistant and a nurse at a local hospital, where the child was born on April 9.
20-year-old daughter of Firoz, Noora, had filed a complaint with the police, accusing his father carried his newborn son on April 14 after lying with her stillborn. She told police that her husband had abandoned her when she was five months pregnant.
The four were arrested Tuesday and taken into custody by police a day the next day. A police team was sent to Delhi to question the businessman, Amit Kumar.
The child, reported that in a healthy condition, was rescued from Delhi and returned to his mother.
Ludhiana Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police NK Sharma identified the other three as Irfan, Gurpreet Singh and Sunita. Gurpeet said, the manager, had set the deal on Facebook with Kumar, who has been booked for the purchase of the girl.
"We are checking whether the agreement was actually beaten in Facebook. Setting would add sections under the Law of Information Technologies in the case," added Sharma.
