Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today gave approval to the establishment of a concept for the development of a consensus on the concept and design of state-of-art semen War Museum to be built on Amritsar-Attari road , for the exhibition of the supreme sacrifices made by the Punjabis while serving in the armed forces.
The Minister held marathon talks with decorated retired officers of the armed forces in Punjab Bhawan here today to ask for their views on the concept and design of this classmemorial world to reach about seven acres of land on the Amritsar-Attari road . Chairing the meeting Badal said that this magnificent monument would be a fitting tribute to commemorate the outstanding contribution made by the soldiers and officers of Punjab to defend the country's sovereignty during the wars against nation. He said that this project would be an engineering marvel equipped with the latest technology in order to display the enormous contribution of Punjabis brave armed forces.
In order to provide the entire perspective plan of this project, the Chief Minister approved a concept committee of state government officials and representatives of the armed forces to draft a blueprint to complete this prestigious project in the next two years. The concept committee comprising Principal Secretary of Defense Welfare Services Vishwajeet Khanna, Principal Secretary Special Minister KJS Cheema, Chairman Punjab Public Service Commission RS Sujlana Lieutenant General (r), Lt. Gen. HRS Mann (r), Major General Singh Harishjit (Retd.) Singh MP Major General (r), Brigadier BS Gill (r), Brig NS Sandhu (r) and the Brigade SS Ahluwalia (r) has been made by Mr Badal to submit its report within two months.
The Prime Minister also asked the committee concept to include eminent military historians as its members to help them conceptualize the delineation of this prestigious project. He said the committee concept was free to visit the war memorials world class as those built in Dhaka (Bangladesh), France, Israel or elsewhere in the world to have a better idea for the construction of this monument of the state-of- art. The Prime Minister said that he has sought the cooperation of the Chief of the Army, Navy and Air Force to provide the record concerning the sacrifices of Punjab and added that they have secured the fulsome support and cooperation with the state government. Badal also said that the state government has already allocated Rs 10 crore to start this project.
Reiterating the firm commitment of the state government to disseminate state's rich heritage for future generations, the Prime Minister said that the state government has already built state of the art Virasat-e-Khalsa monument at Sri Anandpur Sahib, large memorials and small Rahira Kup Holocaust and Kahnuwan respectively, and Baba Banda Singh Bahadur War Memorial in Chappar Chiri. Badal also said that in order to show the contribution of Punjab in the national struggle for Indian freedom from the state government was building a world-class memorial 'Jang-e-Azaadi' in Kartarpur near Jalandhar. In addition, Mr. Badal said Bhagwan Parshuram monuments, Baba Jiwan Singh, Baba Moti Ram Mehra and Swami Vivekananda also come up soon in Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, Sri Anandpur Sahib, Fatehgarh Sahib and Amritsar respectively.
