Chandigarh April 24:
After challenging the Centre so that the installation of the "buckets automatic" mandatory for all vehicles except two-wheelers 50 cc, from April 1, the government of Punjab directive issued before placing your order on hold, and blamed the Union government for its "flip-flop stand on this critical issue of highway safety."
The Union Ministry of Transport had previously requested the Punjab government to revoke the order indicating that the state government notification mocked Rules engined vehicles (CMVR). He had said that the Centre was only empowered to issue any notification regarding the mandatory installation of automatic dippers. Punjab, through an order on February 26, had made the installation of mandatory auto pots and cited Rule No 106 of Central Motor Vehicle Rules, 1989.
An official spokesman said that even the Ministry of Surface Transport inserted Article 125, which states that "every motor vehicle other than a motorcycle and tricycle engine capacity exceeding 500 cc must be equipped with a self-dipper "and then suddenly withdrew it without seeking any comments from state governments. He said that in this "critical issue of security of people", especially with the increased traffic, the Union Surface Transport Ministry has adopted an ambivalent stance.
