CHANDIGARH: A 23-year-old was sexually assaulted at knifepoint and 25 years old, man assaulted when he objected to the misdeeds of a rowdy near market Sector 40 on Tuesday night.
The two were on their way to the market when the noisy - Mandeep Singh, alias Gifty, a resident of Sector 40 - intercepted. "When he was sexually harassing my friend, I confronted him. But he attacked me with a knife, causing injury to his right hand. After that, he ran away," said the young man in his complaint to the police.
Assistant Sub-Inspector Swaran Singh of Sector 39 police station said: "The identity of the wrongdoer was established with the help of market traders. Mandeep's house was raided, but he was in the race." A case has been registered. The wounded boy was admitted to GMH, Sector 16, and discharged after preliminary treatment.
