UP Election: Will BJP be able to become 'baazigar' in Azamgarh on the basis of lost pieces? How will the withered lotus bloom on 10 seats?
Feb 7th 2022, 18:06, by Editorial

For the Uttar Pradesh elections, this time in the 10 seats of Azamgarh, the policy adopted by BJP, there is neither a battle nor many victories in it. Have bet either on the losing candidates or 'imported leaders'.

The road is not easy for the BJP in Azamgarh (symbolic picture).

The lotus seed is so hard from outside that it can absorb neither water, soil nor manure inside itself. If lotus is to be fed, then first the seed has to be rubbed a little. The outer shell has to be broken in such a way that it allows water, soil, fertilizer and air to come inside, so that it can show the world that its flower is no less than a hypnosis. But, Azamgarh (Azamgarh) In BJP The lotus of the lotus has not been able to break its outer cover in several decades, perhaps that is why, the hopes of blooming the lotus keep shrinking from election to election.Uttar Pradesh Assembly Election 2022, This time, the policy adopted by BJP on 10 seats, neither is there any battle nor many victories in it. Have bet either on losing candidates or 'imported leaders', that is, those who have come from other parties.

First of all, the only won seat of BJP was Phulpur Powai. In 2017, Arun Kant, son of Bahubali Ramakant Yadav, won from here. Ramakant Yadav, who came first with Samajwadi Party, then BSP, then BJP and then Samajwadi Party (2019), spoiled the game here. Samajwadi Party has given ticket to Bahubali and former BJP MP Ramakant from Phulpur Powai. In response, instead of betting again on its sitting MLA and Ramakant's son Arun Kant Yadav, BJP has entrusted Ramsurat Rajbhar to feed lotus. Ramsurat contested and lost from here in 1996, then lost to Bahubali Ramakant Yadav from Azamgarh parliamentary seat in 1999, then again in 2007, BJP bet on him in the assembly elections from Phulpur Powai. Since then, he is in the electoral fray for the fourth time. For the third time, Phulpur is contesting the assembly elections from Powai. The difficulty for the BJP is that it was terrified of contesting his son in front of Ramakant and bet in the name of Ramsurat because he had come second in the Lok Sabha elections by giving him competition. This was the only seat where the BJP won one out of 10 seats in Azamgarh. Here once again the BJP did not see any option other than the defeated candidate. The sitting BJP MLA Arun Kant Yadav says that he will try his luck in the MLC elections. Will not fight against father, because the party does not want to.

Surrender in front of Bahubali Durga in Azamgarh Sadar!

BJP has once again bet on Akhilesh Mishra alias Guddu Mishra from Azamgarh Sadar assembly seat. In the Modi wave of 2017 also, Guddu Mishra lost last time by more than 27 thousand votes. Samajwadi Party has once again put a bet on its five-time MLA Bahubali Durga Yadav here. The BJP has once again fielded its lost candidate in the election campaign. According to party sources, initially the organization was discussing change regarding Guddu Mishra, but when it came to giving ticket, the party seems to be in surrender mode by placing bets on the lost pawn in a way in front of Durga Yadav.

How will BJP be able to snatch Mehnagar from SP-BSP?

Mehnagar assembly seat has been a stronghold of Samajwadi Party and Bahujan Samaj Party. Here in the Modi wave, BJP put a lot of emphasis, then Manju Saroj could come second in the 2017 elections. His victory margin was five thousand votes against Kalpanath Paswan of Samajwadi Party. Perhaps that is why in view of the close defeat of the last time, BJP has once again fielded Manju Saroj. That is, here also the defeated candidate has been sent with the hope of feeding lotus in the stronghold of SP-BSP.

BJP relying on 'imported leader' in Sagadi!

In the Sagadi assembly seat, the game of defeat and victory between SP and BSP has been going on. Here BSP won in 2002, SP in 2007, SP in 2012 and BSP in 2017. Bandana Kumari contested on BSP ticket in 2017 over Samajwadi Party's Jairam Patel at number two and BJP's Dr. H.N. Patel was stopped at number three. But, Bandana Kumari was accused of being involved in anti-party activities, after which she was thrown out by the BSP. She joined the BJP just before the election and the party gave her a ticket. Here Samajwadi Party presented former BJP leader Dr H.N. in front of Bandana Kumari. Patel has bet. He was earlier in BJP and was the block chief. Didn't get the ticket, then joined the Samajwadi Party. Now BJP has appointed its leader H.N. Leaving Patel, expressed confidence in Bandana Kumari, who came from BSP, due to which resentment was told among the local workers. While H.N. Patel left the party and entered the fray with a ticket from the SP. Here Bandana Kumar has the tag of being an 'imported leader', but BJP is assuming that the way she won last time by staying in BSP, this time she can win the same seat for BJP. But, this assessment of BJP can only be a hope of victory, not a guarantee.

Bets on 'imported' Manoj Yadava from BSP in Nizamabad

BJP had nothing to lose in Nizamabad seat before and neither is it now. BJP has made Manoj Yadav its candidate from here. He was earlier in BSP and joined the party shortly before the elections. The Samajwadi Party has occupied this seat with the caste vote count of Yadavs, Muslims, Dalits, Bhumihars, Brahmins and Thakurs for three consecutive times. It does not seem to be a matter of BJP's bus to defeat sitting MLA Alambadi, because BJP will not be able to make a dent in Muslim votes and Samajwadi Party has a strong hold on Yadav votes. Vinod Rai was defeated by BJP from this seat last time. Once again, Alambadi is in the fray from the Samajwadi Party, while the BJP is relying on Manoj Yadav, who was 'imported' from the BSP.

Hope of victory from the loser candidate in Didarganj

BJP has given ticket to Krishna Murari Vishwakarma in Didarganj assembly seat. He was also defeated in the last election. Here Adil Sheikh of Samajwadi Party was at number two. Sukhdev Rajbhar of BSP had waved the flag of victory in Didarganj seat. Here Samajwadi Party has given ticket to Kamalkant Rajbhar, son of Sukhdev Rajbhar, while BJP has once again given ticket to Krishna Murari Vishwakarma. In 2012, when Saraimer assembly was made Didarganj assembly, then Adil Sheikh of SP won and in the next election i.e. 2017 Sukhdev Rajbhar of BSP. BJP has not achieved anything except defeat in the last two elections. Yet here he has to send the defeated candidate to fight for victory.

Lotus will bloom on the trust of former MP in Lalganj?

Lalganj Lok Sabha seat was won by BJP's Neelam Sonkar in 2014. The party again bet on her in 2019, but this time she lost. After this he has been fielded to win the Lalganj assembly seat. However, last time BSP's Azad Arimardan won from here. BJP's Inspector Prasad Saroj was at number two. At the same time, Saroj, who was sold from SP, remained at number three. Here, instead of betting on Daroga Prasad, who was second last time, BJP has expressed confidence in Neelam Sonkar, who lost the Lok Sabha elections in 2019.

Bet on District Vice President in Gopalpur

This time BJP has fielded a new candidate in Gopalpur assembly seat. Satendra Rai is contesting the assembly elections for the first time. He is the Vice President of Azamgarh BJP. Nafees Ahmed of Samajwadi Party won here in 2017. In 2017, Shri Krishna Pal was at number two. So far, he has contested 4 times from this seat. Ranked third in 1991, second in 1993, 1996 and 2017. Apart from Shri Krishna Pal, whenever any candidate contested, it became difficult to save the bail. However, now the BJP has expressed confidence in the new face by fielding Satendra Rai here. It is also discussed that he was asking for Lok Sabha ticket from Azamgarh in 2019. But, then he was not given the ticket. This time BJP has taken a big risk here and has the responsibility of feeding lotus on new shoulders.

Ticket apart from caste maths in Atraulia?

The BJP has given the Atraulia assembly seat to the Nishad Party in the alliance account. There is news that BJP wanted to give ticket to any Nishad from here, but Nishad party did not agree. That is why Prashant Singh has been made the candidate of BJP alliance by Nishad Party. However, this seat is also no less than an ordeal for the BJP. Sangram Yadav of Samajwadi Party won here in 2017. He is the son of SP leader and former minister Balram Yadav, this time again Sangram Yadav is in the fray from SP. Last time here BJP had fielded Kanhaiya Nishad, who lost by just 2,467 votes. Here the BJP, instead of raising the hope of victory by giving ticket to the candidate who lost the near defeat, left this seat completely with the help of alliance. After a lot of brainstorming, the BSP has given ticket to Dr Saroj Pandey on the Brahmin-dominated Atraulia seat. Both SP and BJP did not bet on Brahmin, while the number of Brahmin votes here is more than 50 thousand. Surprisingly, the BJP did not take into account the caste-based victory math here that the last time a Brahmin had won this seat against a Yadav candidate. In 2007, Surendra Mishra of BSP defeated Balram Yadav of SP.

Hard to be happy for BJP in Mubarakpur!

The Mubarakpur assembly seat has been a BSP stronghold for 25 years. It has also been difficult for the BJP to establish a foothold here. From 1996 to 2017, Bahujan Samaj Party has been registering victories continuously. In 2012 and 2017 Shah Alam alias Guddu Jamali won the elections on Bahujan Samaj Party ticket. However, now he has left the party. In 2017, BJP's Laxman Maurya was at number three. Here Samajwadi Party had fielded Akhilesh Yadav last time. Akhilesh Yadav, the former district president of Azamgarh, stood second. SP has once again bet on Akhilesh Yadav. BJP has nothing to lose here too, but to get this seat, it will have to make political efforts.

Internal discontent is a big challenge for BJP!

BJP is facing double challenges in Azamgarh. The first problem is that in ticket distribution, most of the trust has been reposed on such people, who have been losing continuously or have recently lost in one or the other election. Apart from this, the leaders who came from other party a few days ago have been given tickets. Along with the local organizations and workers, those people who had been preparing for elections for three-four years are also very angry. All the news of protests in different assembly seats of Azamgarh is giving a big indication. Victory and defeat will be decided on the test of the people, but it cannot be ignored that in so many decades where BJP has not been able to prepare its ground, those shoulders have been chosen to feed the lotus, which are the vote bank of the party. I can hardly do any kind of charisma. BJP should not forget that in Azamgarh, the biggest of Purvanchal, even in the Modi wave, it could bloom a lotus on only one seat out of 10. This time the challenge is much bigger than last time.
