Some say pornography ban, others find it useless

Ludhiana: The Supreme Court expects the government's decision to ban Internet porn sites in India, and discussions between the residents of the city are hot on whether the ban on porn sites actually help curb the escalating crime against women.

Shweta Sharma, a teacher, believes the rampant pornography will make this type of crime. "Online pornography should be banned because it certainly ends ruining minds. Free and easy access porn sites is one of the main reasons behind rape and other sexual offenses."

Avir Verma, a student of BBA, however, says that banning online pornography would just be an eyewash and will do little to stop crime. "The problem with our country is that we have been trying to copy the west in everything we do throughout the day. But in a country like ours where you can not even talk openly about sex, where we can not see a scene of love-making before our parents, how repressed expect those minds not to take the wrong path. "

"Indian culture is one of its kind and we must adhere to it Pornography has little to do with the rape and abuse,. Repressed mind is exploding in this form of criminal activity," he said.
Saloni Sood For college students, the solution to the problem lies in the respect for women and teaching it to young children. "Yes, pornography should be banned, but this will make little difference when it comes to crimes against women. Such crimes can be stopped with a change in the general attitude of men. They need to start respecting women. Nearly all men, from a businessman to a taxi driver, has a porn clip on his cell phone. "
