Chandigarh: The Punjab police Wednesday arrested Ram Singh boxer under the recent recovery of the large amount of heroin and other drugs worth nearly Rs 500 crore in the state. Police last month, trapping international drug scandal that operate from the state.
Ram Singh is a fellow boxer and former roommate of the winner of the Olympic bronze medal and star boxer Vijender Singh. The police stated above, based on the statements of Ram Singh and Vijender he had used heroin five to 12 times, respectively, in recent months (December 2012-February 2013).
The Union Sports Ministry today asked the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) to conduct a test after the last drug Vijender controversy surrounding him. Blood tests and urine tests were conducted on Wednesday.
"The Fatehgarh Sahib police today arrested Ram Singh boxer in the case of registered medicines and international smugglers Anoop Singh and others.'s The 16th defendant who has been arrested in this case," said a spokesman of the Punjab police here Wednesday night.
Police investigators said Ram Singh, who had been questioned several times by them in the case of drugs, was arrested after huge amounts of lifestyle drugs and raw materials for these drugs were recovered from his brother-in- Ravi Deol law.
"He (Ram Singh) was summoned to join the investigation in this case by the name of Ravi Deol emerged in this case, heavy drug recovery (5 kg and 90 kg of ice Pseudophedrine) made of his father's house in Sangrur . Ram Singh was continually in contact with Ravi Deol who is a proclaimed offender and a smuggler, "said police spokesman.
However, family members and some fellow boxers said Ram Singh had been illegally detained by the Punjab police for almost a month without stopping or take official custody.
"During the intensive examination found that Ram Singh has deeper connections with smugglers and demanded his custodial interrogation," said police spokesman.
Fatehgarh Sahib police made their first seizure of over 28 kg of heroin, worth Rs 130 crore in the international market, March 7 Zirakpur city on the outskirts of Chandigarh.
Then seizures became more lifestyle and party drugs. Based on the international prices of these drugs, police said the tour was valued at Rs.484 crore.
On Sunday, police recovered 10 kg party drug ice (methamphetamine) and 230 kg of raw material (pseudoephedrine) from which it is made. The latest attacks were made of Panchkula (near Chandigarh), Patiala and Sangrur.
"During the investigation, it was established that boxers Vijender Singh and Ram Singh took heroin (drug trafficker arrested based in Canada) Anoop Singh Kahlon and Rocky for personal consumption between December 2012 and February 2013," police said.
Ram Singh, a police officer has been fired from the Punjab police, as it was established haunting heroin smugglers and acquired from them. Vijender Singh is a deputy superintendent of police (in training) with Haryana Police.
Police said drugs were being shipped overseas to Britain, Canada and the Netherlands for this group of drug traffickers by Kulwant Singh, a British national, who was arrested earlier this Delhi event March 19.
Police also found a van registered to the wife of Vijender Archana Singh Kahlon parked outside flat where she became the first seizure. Kahlon allegedly told police he and fellow boxer Vijender Singh Ram were their "clients".
Punjab Police have already questioned Vijender.
Two Canadians and a British national (all of Indian origin) have been arrested in the case so far.
