LUDHIANA: The arrest of two aspiring models, Rinki and Jagtar, on Sunday has once again shown how the desire to lead a luxurious life is driving several youngsters to crime. The two along with Joginder Singh alias Makhan of Sirsa and Satwinder Singh alias Sukhbir Singh were held for the kidnapping of a schoolteacher from Rakba village.
The accused were produced before the court on Monday. While Rinki was sent to women's jail on judicial remand, the others were remanded to one-day police custody.
Rinki has acted in several Bhojpuri music videos while Jagtar Singh was seen in a Punjabi music video.
However, three other accused Sartaj Singh of Ferozepur, Pramod Kumar of Sirsa and Amrinder Pal Singh of Bathinda were arrested on Friday - the same day they had kidnapped Chamkaur Singh. One of the gang members Soniya is still at large.
SHO Raj Kumar Chaudhary said Satwinder and Joginder had hatched the conspiracy and contacted Rinki and Soniya to honey trap Chamkaur Singh. The girls were promised Rs 30,000 each. However, the plans got awry and they landed in police net.
