Notably, most of the challans were issued to those who have been washing their cars with potable water or excessive water for gardening.

Although the total number of challans issued to violators in recent days has crossed 350, the authority has already been disconnected more than 80 water connections for repeated violations or failure to pay the challan amount in the stipulated time. "The offenders are being punished for the misuse of water and 35-40 are issuing challans every day," said Superintendent Engineer MC RC Diwan. MC sources said that most of the challans are being issued in the northern part of the city, there are many which aired in parts of the south and east of the city also.

The engineering wing of the MC had started its action against misuse of water from April 15. The exercise will run until June offenders realize during the peak summer season, when the need for potable water rises against another station
